Road to Boston: Sea Star’s Steam Series

Sea Star Seafood Corp. is debuting a line of frozen seafood entrées geared toward on-the-go, health-conscious consumers at the International Boston Seafood Show in March.

The Marlborough, Mass., company, which is marketing the line under the Beacon Light Steam Series brand, is already receiving positive feedback from its customers.

“The initial response to the Beacon Light Steam Series from our customers has been fantastic,” said James R. Faro, Sea Star president. “The products answer so many of consumers’ hot-button issues about seafood, such as ease of preparation, fresh flavor, healthfulness and cost. We are very confident that this line will be a winner at retail.”

The Steam Series features 6-ounce frozen fish fillets in five varieties: Lemon & Dill Atlantic Salmon, Garlic & Herb Mahi Mahi, Tomato, Basil & Garlic Tilapia, Mediterranean Cod, and Lemon & Herb Haddock. Each fillet is packaged in a microwavable steam-venting pouch and flavored with dry seasonings, cooking in just four minutes and allowing the seasonings to blend with the fish’s natural juices. The fillets are flavored with salt-free seasonings, contain no added fats and are gluten free.

The Steam Series is available at several supermarket chains nationwide, including Stop & Shop, Hannaford Bros., Kroger and Food Lion, as well as BJ’s Wholesale Club.

The line will be featured in the Seafood Marketplace at the Boston Seafood Show, as well as in Sea Star’s booth.
