Rubio’s adds two shrimp tacos to menu

Rubio’s, hoping to best its competition with enticing fast casual fare, is stepping it up this week with two new shrimp tacos, part of a continuing effort to regularly update its menu.

The smoky red chili hand-battered shrimp taco and the salsa verde pan-seared shrimp taco are being introduced on Tuesday, as Rubio's co-founder Ralph Rubio hits the road trumpeting the latest additions to the chain's seafood offerings.

“We’ve been in our kitchens developing new flavors around new fish tacos, new shrimp tacos, some salads, maybe some grilled fish sandwiches,” said Rubio, before demonstrating how the tacos are assembled with a variety of secret sauces and zesty salsas. “This is part of our many efforts to introduce a lot of new flavors to keep things interesting on our menu.”
