In a move the company calls a "milestone," Australis Aquaculture in Turners Falls, Mass., today announced Safeway now offers its fresh and frozen barramundi.
The supermarket chain will carry Australis' barramundi at its 1,000-plus locations.
"The supply creation initiatives we began last year are yielding significantly increased amounts of product that we can deliver to large national retailers like Safeway," says Josh Goldman, managing director at Australis. "At the same time, consumers are increasingly recognizing barramundi as a mainstream seafood choice. The ability to service new customers like Safeway is an important component to meeting our fiscal 2009 sales targets."
The company also recently announced that Darden Restaurants of Orlando, Fla., will feature barramundi at its Red Lobster restaurants.
