The Saucy Fish Co. has been named one of the 2013 CoolBrands in the U.K., according to a statement from the company.
CoolBrands, now in its 12th year, is an annually-updated list of recognizable, popular food brands, with new additions to the list published in September. Past honorees include Green & Blacks, Marmite and Ben & Jerry’s. Voters, including 3,000 consumers and a panel of 37 designers, style experts, media personalities and prominent figures from the worlds of TV, fashion and music, chose Saucy Fish to join the CoolBrands ranks.
Saucy Fish, which launched in 2010, has been marketing a successful line of packaged fish products in signature sauces, geared toward convenience cooking.
“This original brand has caused a huge splash in its markets, meeting a genuine consumer need and desire,” said Stephen Cheliotis, chariman of the CoolBrands Expert Council. “Its distinctive and stylish image makes it stand out in-store while the high quality product ensures customers come back for more. Its responsible behavior, coupled with its fun tone and focus on providing inspirational ideas have made it a clear success winning the love of both opinion formers and public alike."
Applicants for the CoolBrands list are judged based on style, innovation, originality, authenticity, desirability, uniqueness and other factors.
“We have worked tirelessly over the last three and half years to overcome people’s fear of cooking fish by creating a fuss-free product that tantalizes the taste buds,” said Simon Smith, head of brand at Saucy Fish. “We receive glowing praise from many of our loyal customers, but it’s great to receive the independent CoolBrands accolade.”
