Sea Star Seafood Corp. of Marlborough, Mass., announced today that it was named Kroger's Seafood Supplier of the Year.
Kroger is the nation's second largest food retailer, trailing only Wal-Mart, according to the Food Marketing Institute. The Cincinnati-based supermarket company - whose banners include Ralph's, Fred Meyer's, QFC, Smith's Dillon, Fry's, King's Sooper and Food 4 Less - posted 2007 sales of more than $65 billion and operates about 3,270 stores.
Sea Star has been supplying case-ready frozen fish to Kroger for 25 years.
"The case-ready solution that we supply to Kroger includes many people in our organization who spend each business day working to exceed Kroger's expectations," says Sea Star President James Faro. "We're proud of the tens of millions of packages sold through their distribution."
