Seafood Watch and Blue Apron join forces

The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program has partnered with Blue Apron, the popular fresh ingredient and recipe home delivery business, to help bring "Best Choice" and "Good Alternative" seafood products to consumer homes.

As a term of the partnership, Blue Apron has agreed to only package seafood with "Best Choice" or "Good Alternative" ratings, and is providing educational materials about the Seafood Watch program within each relevant shipment.

"It's our goal to make cooking seafood at home accessible to everyone," said Matt Wadiak, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer for Blue Apron, in a prepared statement. "Seafood Watch takes a holistic approach to the health of the world's oceans. Their mission to preserve and regenerate the ocean is uncompromising. We cannot think of a better partner to advance our collective mission to support a healthy ocean and help consumers make better seafood choices."

"Blue Apron is constantly working to improve the sustainability of the seafood supply chain, which is key to making real change on the water," said Ryan Bigelow, Program Engagement Manager at Seafood Watch. "Through their scale, Blue Apron has the unique opportunity to help us educate millions of consumers across the country and strengthen our environmental impact."
