St. Simons Island, Georgia, U.S.A.-based seafood supplier Morey’s is the second company in recent months to partner with Mike’s Hot Honey in new salmon product launches.
Morey’s has partnered with the Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.-based honey brand on its Wild Salmon with Mike’s Hot Honey product that launched in January.
Morey’s salmon, individually wrapped in 5-ounce fillets, is marinated with a blend of blackened seasonings and paired with a packet of Mike’s Hot Honey for consumers to add. It is available at Publix and other retailers nationwide.
“Hot honey has seen remarkable growth on U.S. menus, with Mike’s Hot Honey leading the way in the category,” said Ciera Womack, the director of marketing and seafood for the Consumer Brands division of Rich Products Corp., the parent company of Morey’s. “Honey is one of the most popular seafood sauce flavors, which happens to pair perfectly with salmon’s savory notes.”
Morey’s also focused on pairing sweet and heat flavor profiles last year, when it introduced Morey’s Tilapia Sweet Chili.
Honey has not just become more popular at U.S. retail; it has also appeared on more than twice the number of U.S. restaurant menus than it did four years ago, according to research firm Datassential.
Additionally, hot honey ranks in the 100th percentile for future growth potential, showing a four-year prognosis of “very strong,” according to Menucast, Datassential’s AI-based prediction engine.
“We couldn’t be more excited about this delicious seafood collaboration with Morey’s. I think people are going to go wild over the tasty combination of sweet heat and savory flavors,” Mike’s Hot Honey Founder Mike Kurtz said.
Brooklyn-based Acme Smoked Fish also released a Sweet Heat Smoked Salmon Dip featuring Mike’s Hot Honey in 2024.
