US suppliers launch Asian, Italian seafood items

Tai Foong USA is launching new frozen Asian-inspired seafood apps, while Keyport LLC is introducing Italian-inspired meals.

Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.-based Tai Foong is debuting a frozen, gluten-fee Honey Walnut Shrimp app under both its Northern Chef and Royal Asia labels. Made with gluten-free breading and farmed shrimp, the app is sold in some Costco stores on the West Coast under the Royal Asia brand and will launch in retailers on the West Coast under its Northern Chef label in April.

It is also launching a frozen Crab Rangoon, made with Marine Stewardship Council-certified snow crab, under its Royal Asia brand. The app is available at certain Whole Foods Market stores

“Honey Walnut Shrimp and Crab Rangoon are favorite dishes found in Chinatowns across America. We are so excited that we can offer high quality versions of these dishes using sustainable seafood and clean ingredients to bring into people’s homes,” Tai Foong USA COO and Vice President Eric Lam told SeafoodSource.

The new apps are designed to make sustainable seafood “easier and more fun for everyone to eat,” Lam said.

The Honey Walnut Shrimp complements Northern Chef’s gluten-free breaded shrimp line, which includes Boom Boom Shrimp and Coconut Shrimp, Lam said.

Meanwhile, Edmonds, Washington, U.S.A.-based Keyport LLC, is expanding its line of Wild Choice frozen entrées to include King Crab Gnocchi and Lobster Ravioli.

The two entrees, available in national and regional grocery chains and independent grocers, retail for a suggested USD 12.99 (EUR 11.59) each.

“Chef-crafted from quality, natural ingredients and the finest, sustainably sourced, wild-caught seafood, the entrées provide delicious dinners for two – quick and easy for everyday indulgence, or elegant enough for date night,” Keyport said in a press release.

The King Crab Gnocchi features rustic potato gnocchi and wild king crab in a white truffle and brown butter sauce. Meanwhile, Keyport’s Lobster Ravioli is stuffed with wild lobster and cheese in a tarragon butter sauce.

Other items in the Wild Choice line include: King Crab Ravioli, King Crab Mac & Cheese, Lobster Ravioli, and Lobster Mac & Cheese.
