Wegmans again freezes prices on seafood

Wegmans has renewed a price freeze on more than 60 items, including salmon, tilapia and haddock. The price freeze took effect on Sunday and runs through 25 August.

The Rochester, N.Y.-based retailer made a similar commitment in January.

“People are more hopeful about the economy, but gas prices remain a huge concern,” said Wegmans President Colleen Wegman.  “Customers have told us that it gives them peace of mind to know that prices won’t change for an extended period of time.  It helps with planning and budgeting, and they are saving enough on groceries to more than offset the extra they are paying at the fuel pump.”

“We can’t freeze prices on every product we sell, but it’s important to say that beyond this list, we will keep prices low,” she added. “Our prices on the products families buy week in and out are 10 to 15% lower than other supermarkets.”

The seafood items include 2-pound bags of Club Pack Wegmans Frozen Salmon, Club Pack Wegmans Frozen Tilapia, Club Pack Wegmans Frozen Haddock and Club Pack Wegmans Swai Fillets. Also on the list are 50-Count Wegmans Littleneck Clams.
