Wild Planet Foods introduces single-serve skipjack tuna pouches

United States sustainable tuna supplier Wild Planet Foods recently rolled out Skipjack Wild Tuna single-serve pouches.

Wild Planet already sells Albacore Tuna pouches. Both products contain 100 percent sustainably pole- and line-caught tuna, with no water, oil, or filler added.

“In speaking with our customers, we’ve learned that consumers want what’s good for the earth, their bodies, and their busy schedules,” Wild Planet Foods President Bill Carvalho said in a statement. “To meet consumer demands for environmentally-friendly, convenient nutrition, we took this nutritional powerhouse and put it in a pouch, so that fitness enthusiasts, the health conscious, and individuals who are simply pressed for time can easily toss a pouch in their bag and go for a filling, nutritious and mess-free meal.”

The skipjack tuna is sourced from the Central and North Pacific Ocean, according to Carvalho.

“Protein-rich and full of flavor, skipjack is one of the tuna species lowest in mercury,” he said.

The Skipjack Wild Tuna pouches, which retail for a suggested USD 2.99 (EUR 2.56) each, contain 21 grams of protein, an average of 230 milligrams of EPA and DHA omega-3 per serving, and 90 calories per pouch.
