Norwegian salmon smolt producer BioFish Holding AS has confirmed the receipt of new contracts for the delivery of post-smolt from salmon farming company Bolaks AS.
Privately-owned Eikelandsosen, Norway-headquartered Bolaks is a new customer for Biofish. The company currently holds 12 licenses for the production of salmon in Norway. According to Biofish, the Bolaks contracts are valued at approximately NOK 24 million (USD 2.7 million, EUR 2.4 million). Half of the post-smolt will be delivered in spring 2023 and the rest during spring 2024. In addition, there is an option for a similar delivery contract for spring 2025.
Biofish said that since its successful listing on Euronext Growth in July 2021, it has experienced a significant increase in requests for its smolt, and is therefore expecting more smolt contracts to be formalized in the future.
The company’s production takes place at its land-based production unit in Kvam on the west coast of Norway. This facility uses a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) that recycles at least 99 percent of the water it uses. It delivers smolt to salmon farms all along the entire Norwegian and to customers in Northern Europe.
