Frøya, Norway-headquartered salmon farmer Måsøval AS harvested a record amount of salmon in the closing quarter of 2021.
According to Måsøval’s latest trading update, it harvested 4,813 metric tons (MT) of head-on gutted (HOG) weight fish in Q4 2021. Its total harvest volume for the full-year was 16,888 MT, up from its previous best of 16,253 MT – achieved in 2020. That year, it also achieved record revenues of NOK 928.1 million (USD 105.2 million, EUR 92.8 million) and all-time high pre-tax profits of NOK 242 million (USD 27.4 million, EUR 24.2 million).
The company’s complete fourth-quarter report will be released on 17 February 2022.
Måsøval completed the acquisition of Vartdal Gruppen from Vartdal Invest AS at the end of 2021, with the deal comprising the ventures Aquafarms Vartdal AS, Vartdal Fiskeoppdrett AS, Urke Fiskeoppdrett AS, Western Seaproducts AS (processing) and Vartdal Fryseri AS.
Owned by brothers Lars and Anders Måsøval, the company started farming fish in 1972. According to its website a harvest volume of 25,700 MT is expected in 2022, rising to 28,000 MT in 2023.
