Former Slade Gorton buyer joins Pescanova team

Romina Polanco, formerly of Slade Gorton, has joined Miami, Florida, U.S.A.-based Pescanova USA as its new director of procurement and demand planning.

Polanco, who previously served as Slade Gorton’s strategic sourcing manager, will help Pescanova optimize its supply chain and demand planning operations in her new role, the company said in a press release. She will also be in charge of monitoring and reporting on raw material markets, Pescanova said, working alongside Pescanova USA’s sales and marketing teams on new product initiatives that are expected to broaden the company’s product portfolio and allow it to gain distribution into more retail and foodservice sales channels.

Pescanova USA CEO Chris Maze said Polanco’s experience in streamlining supply chain management operations and forecasting will be a true asset to the company moving forward.

“Romina Polanco joins the Pescanova USA team as we work toward our goal of streamlining our operations in the U.S. to better serve our customer’s needs,” Maze said. “We know first-hand the importance the supplier plays in our customer’s own supply chain operations. With Romina, we have added another highly experienced professional to our talented team at Pescanova USA that is working to take our service and company to the next level.”

A subsidiary of Nueva Pescanova Group – a major Spanish fishing company based in Vigo, Spain, operating its own aquaculture farms and fishing vessels worldwide – Pescanova USA first entered the U.S. market in 1998 and is now one of the top 50 seafood commerce companies in the Americas. The firm “sees the United States market as a strategic growth opportunity for a company that is able to leverage the supply chain benefits of vertical integration,” it said.

“I am extremely proud to have taken the next major step in my career by joining Pescanova USA as the director of procurement and demand planning,” added Polanco. “To be able to continue my career in an industry that is built around amazing people and lifelong relationships is an incredible blessing. I look forward to the opportunity of helping to lead an outstanding Pescanova USA team and this incredible company with worldwide reach to new levels of success.”
