New Zealand King Salmon appoints Constance Wolfe to newly-created US post

New Zealand King Salmon has hired Constance Wolfe as its director of retail sales for North America, a newly-created position.

In her new role, Wolfe will “focus on increasing Regal New Zealand King Salmon’s footprint in grocery stores,” the company said. Regal announced its launch into the U.S. retail market in January 2021, and Wolfe's hiring is a furthering of that initiative. The company said Wolfe, who has experience building popular natural and sustainable brands for the grocery channel, will also help Regal meet growing demand for its premium smoked and roasted seafood offerings.

“This is a great time for Regal to forge new relationships with retailers,” Wolfe said in a press release. “Consumers are laser-focused on sustainability and they also want great taste and quick and easy meal solutions. Regal more than delivers on this.”

The largest salmon producer in New Zealand, Regal expanded into the U.S. in 2018 with its smoked salmon line. Last year, it expanded its U.S. offerings to include its Wood Roasted King Salmon, and Regal’s Cold Smoked slices and Wood Roasted portions of salmon are now sold on Amazon and can be found among the aisles of supermarkets throughout the U.S., including at Safeway, Albertsons, and Fresh Thyme Markets.

New Zealand’s King Salmon is the first marine-raised salmon to achieve a green, or “Best Choice,” rating from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program, according to Regal, which rears its fish in the waters of Marlborough Sound.

The brand was recently recognized by Sunset Magazine in 2021 for its Manuka Wood Roasted Salmon, which the publication selected as a 2021 Pantry Award winner. Its king salmon was also honored with four 2021 Superior Taste Awards from the International Taste Institute in Brussels, Regal said.
