Tampa Maid names new president and COO

Tampa Maid President and COO Shawn Meaney

Tampa Maid Foods, manufacturer of Mariner Jack, Harvest Creations, Margaritaville, and other seafood brands, recently named Shawn Meaney as its new president and chief operating officer.

Meaney, who has 30 years of experience in the food and beverage manufacturing industries, succeeds Rod Van Wyngarden, former executive vice president and COO, the Lakeland, Florida, U.S.A.-based supplier said in a press release.

Meaney has held senior leadership roles with several companies, including Keebler Company, Sara Lee Brands, E&J Gallo Winery, and ConAgra Brands. Meaney also led JM Swank, a nationwide food ingredients distributor. After JM Swank, he successfully built a new company focused on distributing ingredients and other materials to the craft brewing and distilling industry.

“Shawn’s demonstrated ability to drive growth and sustained financial results while also creating an engaging and dynamic culture make him the perfect fit for Tampa Maid,” Tampa Maid Chairman and CEO Eric Wahlen said.

Tampa Maid hired Van Wyngarden in 2018 as executive vice president and COO.

Van Wyngarden had served as president of Wells Food Processing and worked at national food manufacturers such as Cargill and PepsiCo.

Executives with Tampa Maid did not respond to SeafoodSource’s requests for comment on the reason for Wyngarden’s departure. However, he has served as CEO of both Wheat Montana Farms & Bakery and Stone Ground Bakery since January 2022, according to his LinkedIn profile.
