Vietnam’s largest pangasius exporter, Vinh Hoan, has announced a surge in its export value in April as sales to all major markets grew significantly.
In its April update, Vinh Hoan said it exported VND 799 billion (USD 34.6 million, EUR 28.4 million) worth of seafood products in the month, 61 percent higher year-on-year. Part of the reason for the jump is that many major markets were put under lockdown to contain the coronavirus outbreak in April 2020, while most of the markets remained accessible this year, the company said.
The U.S. remained Vinh Hoan’s top buyer for the month, with sales of VND 289 billion (USD 12.5 million, EUR 10.3 million), jumping 130 percent from April 2020. It was followed by China, which bought VND 158 billion (USD 6.9 million, EUR 5.6 million) worth of pangasius products, an increase of 246 percent year-on-year. The company’s sales to Europe in the month also rose 3 percent to VND 147 billion (USD 6.4 million, EUR 5.2 million).
Vinh Hoan earned VND 529 billion (USD 22.9 million, EUR 18.8 million) from the exports of pangasius products in April, up 54 percent year-on-year. Its byproducts sales in the month also grew 107 percent year-on-year to VND 182 billion (USD 7.9 million, EUR 6.5 million). The company’s wellness product exports were worth VND 63 billion (USD 2.7 million, EUR 2.2 million), rising 78 percent from April 2020.
Compared with March this year, the sales value in April increased 20 percent, with growth of 17 percent in the U.S., 59 percent in China, and 31 percent in the Europe.
In April, its Sa Giang subsidiary posted sales value of VND 34.67 billion (USD 1.5 million, EUR 1.2 million), almost unchanged from last month, comprising VND 17.41 billion (USD 750,000, EUR 620,000) from Vietnam, up 49 percent, and VND 15.19 billion (USD 660,000, EUR 540,000) from Europe, down 2 percent from March.
Sa Giang’s shrimp chips sales surged 5 percent month-on-month to VND 26.12 billion (USD 1.13 million, EUR 930,000) in April.
