Stellar Bay Shellfish recalling oysters due to norovirus outbreak

A foodborne illness outbreak linked to norovirus has forced Bowser, British Columbia, Canada-based Stellar Bay Shellfish to recall some of its oysters.

The recall was triggered by findings of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak, the agency said in a press release.

“There have been illnesses associated with the consumption of these products,” CFIA said.

Stellar Bay’s recalled oysters were sold to restaurants, hotels, and other institutions in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, and Ontario. They may also have been distributed in other provinces and territories, CFIA said.

The recalled Kushi and Stellar Bay Gold oysters were harvested between 7 and 14 March, 2022.
