BluGlacier, along with salmon producer Ventisqueros, recently announced the completion of a major facelift for the Silverside Coho salmon brand.
Silverside is Ventisqueros’ algae-fed coho salmon brand is raised on Corbion’s AlgaPrime algae-based feed. The fish are raised in the Patagonian region of Chile, and sold in the U.S. via BluGlacier.
According to a press release from BluGlacier, the brand has received a new look to showcase how the seasonal product is sustainable. The new branding features teal blue packaging with traces of coral images throughout the background, new fonts, and imagery intended to showcase the ease of preparation of the product.
“Our key objectives with the brand refresh are to show our customers how to be a more conscious and responsible consumer, the process of algae farmed salmon, provide easy and tasty recipes to cook at home, and how to make seafood more approachable,” BluGlacier Chief Marketing Officer Evelyn Torres said. “We aim to be clear and transparent yet disruptive at the same time.”
The salmon is being brought to the U.S. from 1 October through 31 December for both the retail and foodservice sectors, available as both a fresh and frozen product.
Silverside has been certified to both the Aquaculture Stewardship Council and Best Aquaculture Practices standards, and currently has the lowest feed to fish ration in the industry, according to BluGlacier.
“By utilizing AlgaPrime and aligning the company’s practices to the ASC, BluGlacier can ensure Silverside is one of the most sustainable ocean-raised salmon available,” BluGlacier said. “It is also live harvested and specially packed to ensure optimal quality while remaining competitively priced less than other similarly certified salmon.”
BluGlacier is the North American sales office for Salmones Blumar and Ventisqueros. The two companies own all aspects of the production of BluGlacier’s salmon. It launched its first-ever direct-to-consumer brand, OSHĒN, in November 2020.
