SeaPak launching Everything Bagel shrimp

Retailers will begin featuring SeaPak Shrimp & Seafood Co.’s new SeaPak Everything Bagel Butterfly Shrimp this month.

When executives at the St. Simons Island, Georgia, U.S.A.-based supplier were considering new flavor profiles, they discovered how popular the everything bagel spice is among Americans, SeaPak Director of Marketing Kristen Beadon told SeafoodSource.

“Everything Bagel flavor/spice is trending heavily and is predicted to continue to grow year-over-year,” she said. “As consumers continue to stay at home, SeaPak is trying to provide new and exciting flavors that consumers may see at their favorite seafood restaurants.”

The new frozen product includes nine ounces of 4-star Best Aquaculture Practices certified butterfly shrimp in a seasoning mix of sesame seeds, salt, poppy seeds, dried garlic, and dried onion, along with a cream cheese chive dipping sauce.

SeaPak is not targeting a specific demographic group with the new product, but rather is “continuing to focus on seafood lovers of all ages,” Beadon said.

The 12-ounce packages, which sell for a suggested USD 8.99 (EUR 7.57) each, will also soon be available in several other nationwide retailers and grocery stores, according to SeaPak.

Many suppliers’ new product launches have been delayed due the surge in demand – particularly for frozen seafood products – since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. And SeaPak is no different.  Its last product launch, SeaPak Shrimp Sea Pals, was in late February. The kid-friendly product is whole grain-breaded, minced shrimp bites in the shape of sea turtles and starfish.

And last March, SeaPak and Budweiser joined forces to launch a new line of sustainable seafood products. The line includes SeaPak Budweiser Beer Battered Shrimp, SeaPak Budweiser Beer Battered Cod, and SeaPak Budweiser Beer Battered Crab Poppers.
