FCF has chosen Wise Solutions’ WiseFish ERP system for its affiliated production companies in Papua New Guinea.
Kaohsiung, Taiwan-based tuna supplier Fong Chun Formosa (FCF) Fishery Company, which purchased Bumble Bee Seafoods in January 2020, owns and operates a fleet of fishing vessels and production facilities around the globe, operated via 30 subsidiaries. Its eventual goal with the WiseFish system is to “build a company-wide standardized solution that is built on best-in-class technology, provided by the leading experts in the field of seafood ERP,” according to Wise Solutions CEO Johannes H. Gudjonsson.

Reykjavík, Iceland-based Wise Solutions is a developer and distributor of software solutions for the seafood industry based on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central accounting and business system. Its products include WiseFish, Wise Retail, Wise Municipalities, and Wise Power BI.
“This system is a revolution in terms of technology deployment in the PNG factories,” Bumble Bee Foods CIO Tony Costa said in a press release. “The system provides us real-time overview of the operation from end to end, tracking raw materials and finished goods as they are processed in the factories and manages the total operation finances, inventories, product traceability and more.”
Costa said most of the work of implementing WiseFish was done remotely during the pandemic, creating an added level of difficulty.
“To implement an advanced system of this magnitude, complexity, and sophistication in a remote location like Papua New Guinea while the world is experiencing a global pandemic [was] no easy task,” he said. “We assembled a global team from FCF Taiwan, Bumble Bee Foods USA, South Seas Tuna Corporation PNG, Nambawan PNG, and WiseFish USA/Europe to work collaboratively on this industry-leading solution. Despite the challenges presented with the pandemic and the requirement to perform all the project activities remotely, the team has done an outstanding job staying on track to implement the project as outlined with minimum impacts.”
