Mazzetta sells fish plant for USD 9.3 million

Highland Park, Illinois, U.S.A.-based Mazzetta Company has finalized the sale of a Gloucester, Massachusetts seafood processing facility to The Grossman Companies for USD 9.3 million (EUR 8.5 million), the Gloucester Daily Times reported.

Mazzetta Company initially closed the plant in 2017 and listed it for sale, but then subsequently restarted operations at the facility in 2019. Despite that, Mazzetta Company owner Tom Mazzetta confirmed to SeafoodSource that the plant remained up for sale.

At the time, a listing showed the plant priced at USD 11 million (EUR 10.1 million), which according to Mazzetta did not include equipment. Mazzetta Company initially acquired the plant in 2014, paying just under USD 5 million (EUR 4.6 million). The company subsequently invested more than USD 8 million (EUR 7.3 million) into the facility, before shuttering the plant in December 2016.

Jacob M. Grossman, the president at The Grossman Companies, told the Gloucester Daily Times that the company plans to lease the 65,000-square-foot facility to a single tenant.

"There's been really, really good interest already," Grossman told the publication. "We hope to have news on a tenant in a relatively short time."
