“Shrimp-le and easy,” ShrimpTails tips on shrimp marketing

Focus on sustainability and integrity through storytelling

Trust is an important element in the decision-making process of shrimp consumers. They want to know whether the shrimp they eat adheres to certain standards and is responsibly sourced. For Northern Europe and China, obtaining Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification is a priority for suppliers to enter the market, while the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) is a seal of sustainability that is popular in the U.S.

These certificates can certainly be a market entry requirement for some countries, but it is important to share the story behind the process of attaining sustainability as well. Use case studies or highlight stories that helped make farms more sustainable. Put a face on your product. Consumers are people too and they want to hear your stories, whether they are stories of success or struggle in achieving a more sustainable product.
