2018 was a good year for Indonesia: it experienced its highest export volume ever of 189,000 tons and the value of shrimp exports rose to USD 1.8 billion (EUR 1.6 billion).
Shrimp is now the country’s most valuable export product for the first time ever. That said, 2019 hasn’t got off to the same flying start, leading us to believe that last year was more an anomaly than a trend.
