Trident, other suppliers win big pollock, salmon contracts

The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded major pollock and salmon contracts on Monday, 22 November.

USDA issued Trident Seafoods, High Liner Foods, and Channel Fish Processing new Alaska pollock contracts, while Trident and OBI Seafoods won big pink salmon contracts.

Seattle, Washington, U.S.A,-based Trident Seafoods was awarded USD 2.19 million (EUR 1.9 million) of the U.S. government’s larger Alaska pollock contract worth a total of USD 3.9 million (EUR 3.5 million). Seattle-based High Liner Foods was awarded nearly USD 1.6 million (EUR 1.4 million) worth of the pollock contract, while Seattle-based Channel Fish earned USD 121,000 (EUR 108,000).

The suppliers will deliver frozen pollock in bulk, fillets, and fish sticks form from January through June 2022 for federal food and nutrition programs.

Seattle, Washington-based OBI Seafoods won the majority of the USDA’s canned pink salmon contract, worth a total USD 5.87 million (EUR 5.2 million). OBI will supply around USD 4.9 million (EUR 4.3 million) worth of the salmon, while Trident won nearly USD 495,000 (EUR 440,000) worth.

OBI and Trident will deliver salmon between January and August 2022.
