Ace Aquatec introduces in-water stunner at Seafood Expo North America
Ace Aquatec will be exhibiting its in-water fish stunner at Seafood Expo North America, taking place 17 to 19 March in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
The Dundee, Scotland-based aquaculture technology supplier, which also manufactures predator control, biomass measurement, and offshore marine life protection equipment, is introducing its Humane Stunner Universal at the expo. The HSU is an in-water electric stunning system that can stun up to 100 metric tons of fish per hour. It works on all sizes and species of fish and is capable of being used in factories or on boats or barges.
The product is already being used by Scottish Sea Farms, New Zealand King Salmon, Fresh, and the Scottish Salmon Company, as well as by the Southern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association (SSRAA) in Alaska. With its appearance at Seafood Expo North America, Ace Aquatec said it now wants to expand its presence in North America.
The stunner is capable of rendering fish unconscious before they leave the water, and can ensure a constant flow of stunned fish, avoiding the “fits and starts” that frequently occur with other stunning processes, the company said. The HSU won the Queen’s award for Enterprise in Innovation, the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) award for innovation, and became the first Non-Norwegian company to win the Innovation Award at AquaNor in Trondheim, Norway in 2017.
Ace Aquatec’s stunner will be on display at Booth #1788 at Seafood Expo North America.
