Shoreline Freezers announced it is working on a major expansion of its cold storage facility in southern New Jersey, adding 128,000 square feet of new space.

Shoreline Freezers is owned and operated by the Reichle family, who are also the owners of Lund’s Fisheries. According to a release from the company, the new space will add 27,000 pallet positions to the facility’s capacity, nearly four times the size of the existing 7,000 pallet facility.

“This expansion represents a significant milestone for our company and an important investment in our customers’ growth,” Shoreline Freezers COO Gene Taormina said in a release.

The company said the new project is designed to meet increasing demand for storage from food manufacturers, processors, distributors, and logistics providers across the region.

Shoreline Freezers added that the new facility will offer other services, including LTL shipping, cross-docking, case picking, ocean container services from the ports of Philadelphia, Wilmington, New York, and Baltimore, and railcar siding access.

“Together, these capabilities will enable Shoreline Freezers to deliver more integrated cold chain solutions that improve efficiency, reduce handling time, and support customers with flexible distribution options,” the company said.

The expansion comes just four years after it announced investments in cold and dry storage in the area, which amounted to a 90,000-square-foot cold and dry storage facility.

“For nearly three decades, our focus has been on building strong partnerships and delivering reliable, flexible cold storage solutions,” Taormina said. “As a family-owned business, we take pride in maintaining a personal level of service while investing in the future growth of our customers.”
