Novi, Michigan, U.S.A.-headquartered cold chain storage provider Lineage is expanding its Louisville-Winstead, Kentucky cold storage facility in order to meet the needs of customers in key distribution markets.

The expansion adds 82,000 square feet to a facility that already holds more than 10,000 pallets, making up part of the company’s over 84 million square feet of storage capacity across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific.

Lineage Eastern U.S. Operations President Matt Cramer said that the expansion “strengthens our ability to provide cold storage solutions in the region for our customers.”

Cramer added that his company’s goal is to build “a stronger, more efficient cold chain” to meet the needs of businesses worldwide and to respond to changes in those needs as they occur.

Lineage Director of Regional Sales Jason Mulvihill said that the team at the Louisville-Winstead facility already “handles products ranging from gel packs to proteins to dairy.

"This expansion will enable our team to continue delivering best-in-class service while allowing us to offer additional capacity and multiple holding temperatures for greater flexibility,” he said. "Additionally, our strategic location coupled with our transportation services helps provide end-to-end solutions for customers."

The Louisville-Winstead facility is adjacent to a key transportation hub in Louisville, which allows shipments out of the facility to reach over 66 percent of major U.S. markets within 24 hours. It provides cold storage services, railcar siding, cross-docking, and integrated services like USDA and FDA inspection.

"The expansion will build upon these offerings and further strengthen Lineage’s presence in the region as a trusted cold chain logistics partner,” Lineage said in a release about the news.

The expansion is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
