Aker appoints CEO, president

Aker Seafoods on Tuesday announced that Liv Monica B. Stubholt will serve as interim president and CEO, replacing Yngve Myhre, who stepped down.

Myhre took over as president and CEO of Norway Seafoods in 2001, a position he held through the 2005 merger and name change to Aker Seafoods.

The announcement coincides with the board’s plans to streamline the company’s harvesting, processing, marketing, sales and distribution efforts.

“Yngve Myhre has worked long and hard to build an integrated seafood company with operations that span the entire harvesting-through-sales value chain. The European market and Norway’s seafood processing industry are changing. We will take advantage of new eyes to assess new opportunities and solutions to improve profitability and the company’s financial flexibility,” said Frank Reite, Aker’s board chairman.

Aker’s management team will explore streamlining and restructuring the company and present a comprehensive plan to the board within the next six months.
