Alaska seafood industry angered over pizza ad

If there’s one thing national companies should note, it’s that they shouldn’t mess with Alaska fish. When Wal-Mart questioned the sustainability of Alaska-caught salmon, lawmakers — including Gov. Sean Parnell — came out swinging. U.S. Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Mark Begich have rallied in Congress for genetically modified “Frankenfish” to be labeled as such.

Long story short: Mess with Alaska fish, expect an Alaska-size backlash.

Domino’s Pizza was the most recent to be on the tail end of that. In a new ad campaign, the national pizza chain expounds on the brain power of the deep-dish, wondering without pizza, where would America be? The ad notes that every decent idea, study session or startup was “Powered by Pizza.” One thing apparently not providing such brain power? Alaska’s favorite flatfish: halibut.
