Austevoll finishes 4Q up

Austevoll Seafood ASA finished the 2012 4th quarter well, with income and profits up over the same quarter in 2011, despite some “challenging” problems in the conpany’s Peruvian operation.

The group income totaled NOK 2.9 million (USD 508,862, EUR 388,660), up from NOK 2.6 million (USD 456,222, EUR 348,398) reported during 4Q 2011. The company attributed the success to “higher volume of sales and higher prices” for fishmeal and fish oil.

The consolidated operating profit before depreciation and value adjustment for biomass (EBITDA) for 4Q 2012 was NOK 244 million (USD 42.8 million, EUR 32.7 million), compared with NOK 239 million (USD 42 million, EUR 32 million) in 4Q 2011.

Quotas in Peru prevented the company from getting the same volumes in 4Q 2012, according to the company’s report. Fishing for consumer products was not allowed at all in Peru throughout the quarter, whereas in the same quarter in 2011, the group fished about 3,300 tons of fish for consumption. The company is now waiting to see whether quotas there will change in 2013.
