Australian government funding boosts lobster marketing battle in China

Australian government funding has helped a key lobster exporter extend its marketing in China.

The Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-op has been rolling out Mandarin-language marketing for sales of its ‘Brolos’ brand in China.

The Brolos brand lobsters are being sold online with Chinese language packaging with help from the Western Australia Grants for Asian Markets Export Program, administered through the Australian Department of Agriculture and Food.

Competition among lobster vendors has heated up this summer, and lobsters under the brand are being sold online at CNY 350 (USD 51.87, EUR 44.90) per 500 grams at online retailer Jingdong.com.
