Cermaq Buys Chilean Fish-Feed Plant

EWOS Chile Alimentos, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cermaq ASA, has agreed to acquire a fish-feed facility from Cultivos Marinos Chiloe (CMC) for $13.75 million.

As part of the deal, EWOS has agreed to supply 400,000 metric tons of fish feed to CMC over a five-year period.

The plant is located in Ancud, in the northern part of Chiloe Island, and is close to the region's major salmon-farming areas. The facility has an annual capacity of 90,000 to 100,000 metric tons and has been completely upgraded over the past five years.

EWOS operates a fish-feed facility in Coronel that has an annual capacity of 450,000 metric tons, which may be increased by 30,000 metric tons after the integration of the Ancud plant.
