Certified Smoked Fish opens its doors

A new Los Angeles-area smoked fish company opened its doors this week.

Certified Smoked Fish (CSF) announced on Wednesday that it’s now offering fresh, locally smoked fish products, including cold-smoked salmon (trim, sides and trays), baked salmon and hot-smoked whitefish.

The Gardena, Calif., company operates a 6,000-square-foot facility with 2,500 square feet of refrigerated and freezer space. The company is set up to handle 40,000 pounds of product per month but can easily double or even triple production capacity with additional equipment.

Collectively, the company’s founders have more than 50 years of experience in the smoked-seafood industry.

“From the plant manager and buyer to the key fish handler and smoker, we have been smoking products with the same dedication to quality and will continue the tradition of providing a fresh quality product,” said Mitch Benner, VP of CSF. “We realized that there was a need for a fresh local product, not something that is frozen and shipped in from hundreds or thousands of miles away. We are simply fulfilling the demands of our customers.”
