Five companies have been chosen as China’s top seafood brands by trade body China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Association (CAPPMA).
CAPPMA made its choices public during a presentation in Zhoushan, the country’s leading fishery port.
A familiar name on the list of five is Da Yang Shi Jia, the brand of the company with the same name, which operates fishing vessels as well as seafood import, distribution, and processing operations.
Also on the list is Hai Tun Wang Zi [Dolphin King], a brand operated by Zhoushan Yue Yang Food Co., lesser-known name internationally but popular inside China.
The MingZhu [Pearl] brand and the Xing Ye brand, both run by the company of the same names, also made the list.
Located in Zhejiang province on China’s east coast, Zhoushan has long been a base for China’s fishing fleets, but in recent years local authorities have also sought to increase the presence of the city’s fishing firms in international waters.
