Clean Seas Tuna Ltd. announced last week that it appointed Clifford Ashby as CEO.
Ashby will help the Australian company transition into a commercially viable fish farmer, as it prepares to harvest its first batch of southern bluefin tuna.
Clean Seas has worked for the past decade to replicate the breeding patterns of bluefin tuna, and in late April the company announced that its broodstock had spawned for more than 35 days and that it produced more than 50 million fertilized tuna eggs and 30 million larvae.
Ashby has a background in horticultural in Australia and international corporate finance in South Africa and the United Kingdom.
Marcus Stehr, Clean Seas’ managing director, said Ashby’s experience in managing publicly listed production companies, new market development and international finance will help Clean Seas as it expands production and international distribution of its farmed fish. The company also raises yellowtail kingfish.
