Cold Snap Hits Taiwan Cobia Farms
A recent cold snap that hit Taiwan has resulted in an estimated $3.16 million in damages to fish farms in Penghu County, with most losses seen at cobia farms.
"The damage is more serious than we expected," Cheng Ming-yan, chief of the county's Agriculture and Fisheries Bureau, told Asia Pulse on Wednesday.
Farms in the area are scurrying to harvest at-risk fish to minimize further losses. The Fisheries Bureau contacted the local frozen seafood industry to have the dead fish frozen immediately.
