Converted Organics, Pacific Choice Recycle Fish Waste

Converted Organics signed a two-year contract today with Pacific Choice Seafood, part of Pacific Seafood Group of Clackamas, Ore., to manufacture and distribute two organic fish-based fertilizers developed using fish byproducts.

The Boston-based company will partially process the fish waste at Pacific Choice's Eureka, Calif., processing facility using new equipment installed by Pacific Choice. Converted Organics will then deliver the partially treated fish byproducts to its Gonzales, Calif., manufacturing facility, where it will be converted into the fertilizers.

"Our partnership to recycle Pacific Choice Seafood's fish byproducts will have the added benefit of diverting many tons of organic waste from local landfills annually," said Edward Gildea, president and CEO of Converted Organics, in a press release.

"Converted Organics' commitment to excellence compliments that of Pacific Seafood Group, and we are confident that this joint venture will prove successful for both organizations and result in superior organic fertilizer products, while limiting our impact on the environment," added Tim Horgan, COO of Pacific Seafood Group.
