When the whistle blew, the competition started: Eight male and eight female eaters began eating shrimp wontons (Chinese dumplings), as many as they could in eight minutes.
Ng Chin Sheng won the male race by eating 161 wontons and Helen Tan was the female winner with 125. Both are from Singapore and won US$3,000 each.
The CP Biggest Eater Competition 2011-12 drew a lot of spectators to Parc Paragon on Saturday, and Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) knows how the magic of the contest helps build the CP brand overseas.
Last year, CPF held the first CP Biggest Eater Competition 2010 in Singapore.
