Danish refrigeration firm acquired by Klinge

Refrigeration equipment manufacturer Klinge Corp. on  Thursday announced that it acquired Kjellerup, Denmark-based Norfrig Equipment, a supplier of ultra low temperature refrigeration and thawing solutions.

Norfrig Equipment’s equipment is used primarily by the seafood and meat industries for freezing, transportation, storage and thawing. Its focus is on providing an unbroken cold chain through is line of products, which includes blast freezers; electrical refrigeration units for transport on vehicles, ships, and rail; cold storage modules; and quick thaw units.

“The acquisition of Norfrig Equipment strategically strengthens our overall capabilities in providing specialized transport refrigeration equipment to our commercial and military customers,” said Henrik Klinge, president of Klinge Corp. “The combination of Norfrig Equipment and Klinge Corporation provides significant potential for innovation in the field of specialized refrigeration units and generator sets in the transport industry.”

Added Klinge, “Norfrig Equipment’s expertise in temperature controlled supply chains furthers Klinge Corp.’s position as a premier supplier of specialized transport refrigeration units and generator to armed forces and leading companies around the world. We expect new innovative concepts and products to evolve as a result of the collective engineering and design talent of the newly merged companies.”

Founded in 1984, Klinge Corp. is based in York, Pa.
