Del Monte Shifts 100 Jobs From Pittsburgh to San Francisco

Del Monte Foods Co. said Wednesday it's relocating about 100 marketing and related positions from its 500-person operation in Pittsburgh to its corporate headquarters in San Francisco. Positions moving include its StarKist tuna operations.

The move will centralize the company's marketing operations, which will "enhance the company's focus on marketing strategy, innovation and execution," according to a statement.

Heading up the marketing efforts is new Chief Marketing Officer William D. Pearce, who previously held that position with fast-food chain Taco Bell.

In late 2002, Del Monte acquired several former H.J. Heinz Co. businesses, including StarKist tuna, for $2.5 billion.
