Dalian Yuan Yang Yu Ye Tuna Longline Co. claims to have launched “China’s first fully fiberglass low temperature tuna long line vessels.”
The two boats – the Long Xing 801 and Long Xing 802 – were built over a four-year period of R&D and manufacturing at Ningbo Fibreglass Boats Research and Engineering Academy, according to the Dong Bei News, a news channel focused on northeast China. The two vessels are each 39 meters in length and 7.5 meters wide.
Dalian Yuan Yang Tuna Yu Ye Co, which sometimes uses the English names Dalian Ocean Fishing Co and ‘China Tuna,’ was the focus of much attention earlier this month when it was acquired by a leading soy processor and distributor, Jia Jia.
Through the acquisition, Jia Jia vowed to use its own wide distribution network to broaden tuna sales. Dalian Ocean Fishing Co. currently counts the Japan-based Mitsubishi conglomerate as its biggest customer. Established only in 2000, the firm claims to be the largest ultra-low temperature longline premium tuna fishing company in China in revenue and sales volume, and the largest in fleet size.
