Diversified Communications, producer of Seafood Expo North America 2015 and the parent company of SeafoodSource, has announced 12 finalists for the 2015 Seafood Excellence Awards.
The annual awards are part of the expo, and include entries to the show’s New Product Showcase. This year, there are eight finalists in the Best Retail Product category, and four in the Best Foodservice Product category. The products range from salmon to crab to squid, both as individual proteins and as full meal products.
In foodservice, King & Prince Seafood’s Crab Sensations product made it to the finalists’ list, along with Malaysia-based Golden Fresh Sdn Bhd, with its Firecracker Squid Chunk, and two products from Nova Scotia, Canada-based High Liner Foods – Pulled BBQ Salmon and Fish n Chips on a Stick.
There eight contenders in the retail category are: Maine, USA-based Absolutely Lobster, with its Absolutely Lobster Truffle Butter; Bumble Bee Seafoods with its Bumble Bee SuperFresh Seared Ahi Tuna with Garlic Peppercorn Rub; Maine-based Cheating Gourmet with its Crab Crostini; Florida, USA-based Fine Food Factory with its Seafood Paella; Greek seafood company G. Kallimanis S.A. with its Dorade (Greek Seabream) fillet with sweet red pepper sauce; Marine Harvest USA with its Rebel Fish Salmon with Sauce; Washington, USA-based Trident Seafoods with its Louis Kemp Sriracha Crab Delights, and American seafood wholesaler Yihe Corporation with its Alaskan Jack’s line of wild salmon.
All products will be examined by a panel of three judges. The winners will be announced during the show on Sunday, 15 March.
