Fish scam pair set to net £60m

Two trawlermen convicted of illegally landing GBP 7 million worth of fish plan to sell their rights to catch herring and mackerel for up to GBP 60 million.

Hamish Slater, 53, of Fraserburgh, and Victor Buschini, 51, from Lancashire, were convicted in February for their part in Britain’s biggest “black fish” scandal, which operated between 2002 and 2005.

Industry and government sources claim the pair have since landed a deal to sell their European Union quota, an indefinite license, for tens of millions.
