A Russian statistics agency on Monday announced the financial results of Russian businesses for last year’s January-to-November.

Results show fisheries businesses saw a 17.2 percent increase in profit, totaling RUB 11.1 billion, making it the second most profitable economic branch in the country after wholesale/retail businesses.

However, the share of profitable companies within the fishing industry decreased by 1.7 percent to 74.9 percent.

In the Murmansk region, profit amounted to RUB 22.32 billion from January to November 2010, up 8.5 percent compared to the same period in 2009.
