Peter Hamaker, former director of Mayonna (Kennemervis Groep), is joining the Seafood Trade Intelligence Portal (STIP) as a co-director.
STIP, based in Utrecht, the Netherlands, is a networking organization that assists seafood businesses to establish partnerships for sustainable seafood supply chains and to facilitate investments from production to marketing, according to its website.
At STIP, Hamaker will be responsible for operations and business development and will help direct the organization along with fellow co-director Willem van der Pijl. Hamaker has nearly 20 years of experience in the seafood and aquaculture industry, including most recently at Kennemervis Groep, a Dutch supplier of fresh, deep-frozen and pre-processed fish.
“We are convinced that Peter, his experience, his drive for a more sustainable industry and his network will enable STIP to grow further in the coming period,” van der Pijl said in a press release. “The focus for 2017 will be on launching and expanding [our] newly designed supplier and buyer databases and expanding our tailor-made services and engagement with a new investor.”
The move comes in tandem with the announcement that Daniel Knoop and Jeroen Kroezen leave STIP's management team. No reason was given in the press release for the departure of Knoop and Kroezen from the management team, nor was it stated whether either would retain a non-management role within the organization.
