The total catch of Icelandic vessels in December of last year reached 42,833 metric tons (MT), compared with 41,688 MT in December 2011.
According to data from Statistics Iceland, demersal species accounted for 30,800 MT, of which cod accounted for 16,400 MT, haddock for 2m800 MT, redfish for 4,800 MT and saithe for 3,200 MT. The pelagic catch was 9,7000 MT.
Catch value however, decreased by 2.8 percent in December 2012 compared to the same month in 2011.
