ICES recommends cut in 2015 Barents Sea cod quota

The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) has recommended a nearly 100,000 metric ton (MT) cut in the Barents Sea 2015 catch.

On 12 June, ICES announced that on the basis on the joint Russian-Norwegian fisheries commission management plan that the total allowable catch for Barents Sea and Norwegian Sea cod should be set at 894,000 MT, compared to 993,000 MT for 2014.

The actual quota for Northeast Arctic cod will be set in October.
