Iran exported more than 14.984 tons of fishery products valued at USD 58.5 million (EUR 44.4 million) during the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (started 21 March 2013), a senior Iranian fishery official said.
Head of Iran’s Fisheries Organization Gholamreza Razzeqi said that 14,984 tons of fishery products, valued at USD 58.5 million, were exported in spring 2013. The figure showed a 21-percent growth in weight and eight percent in value compared to spring 2012.
He added that European countries, including Spain, France, Germany and Italy, are the main customers of Iranian sturgeons and shrimps, while Iraq is the major consumer of Iranian warm-water fish species.
