John Nagle achieves safety certification

John Nagle Co. on Monday announced that it has been approved by the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQF), a division of the Food Marketing Institute, for its highest level of food quality and safety certification.

In response to heightened consumer demand for increased quality and safety assurances, retail and service providers are asking seafood suppliers to provide verifiable proof that food quality and safety systems have been implemented. SQF Level 3 is a comprehensive, HACCP-based, food-safety and quality management system for manufacturers and distributors.

“SQF verifies the food safety and quality that has become our standard over the last 125 years. We have spent countless hours developing verification systems and documentation to receive SQF certification,” said Charlie Nagle, president of the Boston-based seafood supplier. “This represents a team effort that supports our commitment to our long standing customer and vendor relationships and opens the door for the development of new relationships. SQF Level 3 Certification makes us a better and safer operation.”
