LaVecchia joins Pacific Seafood

Pacific Seafood announced on Friday that it hired Rich LaVecchia as director of special projects-distribution.

LaVecchia, the founder of Poseidon Seafood of Charlotte, N.C., will be based out of Pacific Seafood's corporate headquarters in Clackamas, Ore.

"We look forward to the contributions Rich will bring to the organization as we continue our commitment to the stewardship of sustainable resources and responsible management practices," said Frank Dulcich, president and CEO of Pacific Seafood.

LaVecchia started Poseidon Seafood in 1986, growing it to an USD 80 million seafood-distributing operation before selling the majority interest to the Hunt Investment Group in October 2006. In November 2008, the company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, closing its doors and laying off about 200 employees.
